Let’s help Stuart

Many of you will have heard about one of our regular club members, Stuart Bastock who, at the beginning of April, suffered a devastating stroke during a class in the studio.

His own ambulance colleagues [Stuart is himself a paramedic for nearly 24 years] rushed him to the QE, where he had three strokes within 24 hours, affecting his speech and the use of his left side. In the first week after the stroke he was critically unwell but has battled through and begun his recovery journey.

Today, a little over four months later, he has made great progress, notwithstanding there’s still a long way to go. Stuart is being looked after by specialist personnel at the Circle Rehabilitation Centre, Pebble Mill, but is due to be discharged in the second week of September.

Stuart’s family home will need to be adapted for his needs, and a ‘gofundme’ page has been set up by one of his friends to help with the transition from the Circle care centre to home, where he can continue with his rehabilitation and recovery.
