Padel League Format Changes

Dear Member,

Due to the increasing pressure on access to courts and the difficulty some members are experiencing in booking courts, we are introducing slight changes to the format for padel league matches. This is to ensure that all matches can be completed within a one hour slot (2 x 30 minute sessions) and consequently increasing court availability.

Members should book a court for no more than one hour for their league matches.

Format of league matches :

Best of 3 sets
First and second sets will be up to six games with a seven point tie breaker at 6 games each
Should the score be ‘one set all’, the match will be decided by a 10 point tie breaker
In all games, where the score reaches deuce, there will be a sudden death ‘golden point’.
Should the score in a tie break reach 6-6, or 9-9 (in the deciding set) there will also be a sudden death ‘golden point’.
In all circumstances where there is a ‘golden point’ the receiving pair will determine from which side the server serves.

Incomplete matches

If at the end of your booking and there are other players waiting to come onto the court the following rules will apply:

Should the teams have begun a third set tie break, the pair leading in that tie break at the time of vacating the court will be the winners
In the unlikely event that the second set has not been completed, the team leading at that stage will win that set.
Where a match is tied at one set each and a third set tie break has not commenced, each team will be awarded 5 points

The next Padel League will run from Monday 18th September until Sunday 12 November

Best wishes,

John Thomas
