All Racquets Event - 5th May

SAC Notification to all Rackets Members

Dear Members,

Further to the communication that went out on 23rd concerning the ‘All Rackets Event’ on the Bank Holiday Sunday 5th May, there have been a number of enquiries to customer services and the management regarding this event. Whilst it has been organised by a group of club members, representing the different racket disciplines at the club, ongoing since the end of last year, with the knowledge and involvement of the management and the bar staff, this event is not an ‘official’ club event.

It is hoped that if successful, there could in future perhaps be an official club tournament of similar format, potentially on the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday each year as per this event.

To this effect, enquiries concerning the tournament and the day should be directed to Andy Robbins (07785 926 960).

To clarify a few matters, as confirmed by the organisation committee:

• When the original communication went out, the precise number of courts required was unclear, so more were booked than necessary. These courts have now been made available for members to book.

• It has been confirmed that the tournament will commence at 09:30hrs in the four above disciplines subject to suitable weather conditions. As the Racketball and table tennis are inside a tournament of some sort will take place whatever the weather. The evening do commences at 19:30hrs. Food is provided throughout the day.

• The tournament is a team mixed doubles fun / social team event, so individuals can ‘dip-in’ and ‘dip-out’ as preferred. Players can make themselves available for just one sport for part of the day, or all sports for all of the day. The tournament structure is very flexible and allows for this

• A number of members have opted to attend the Solihull Moors Match at Wembley on the Sunday, so will join the evening function a little later during the evening. All welcome, hopefully to celebrate a win!

Agenda for the day is as follows:
• Breakfast Baps, Tea, Coffee and Rules 9.15 -9.45am
• Play commences 9.45am
• Continuous Round Robin team play throughout the day with lunch provided
• Finals and Awards
• Evening Food approx 7.30pm
• Music and Dancing until 1am Sunday morning

A number of invitations have been sent out, but it is likely that a number of individuals have been invited verbally but not received a formal invitation to participate. If anyone feels they have been accidentally omitted from the event, please contact Andy Robbins. The cost of the event is £10 per player, £5 per 14 years and under. For persons attending the evening only, the cost will be £5 per person. (£1 per person participating will be donated to Cancer research).
